Fixed Bayonets! is a cracking early Fuller film, for its character interplay and tensions, for its roving camerawork, for the sheer tension of that iced minefield sequence, for its vigorously staged action, and for its brisk storytelling. The film "Fixed Bayonets" is also the very first movie that actor James Dean appeared in.
Romy Schneider was born on 23 September 1938 in Vienna, Austria. worked with the biggest directors: Otto Preminger, Orson Welles, Luchino Visconti, Joseph Losey... Song: Senza Fine by Connie Francis from The Flight of the Phoenix (1965)
Godard's Best Film, Undoubtedly One of the Best Works in Cinema, The photography is stunning (esp. the Capri shots), and the wonderfully haunting score by Georges Delerue only increases our viewing pleasure. the international star cast including Brigitte Bardot, Michel Piccoli, and Jack Palance, along with the cameo appearance of legendary German filmmaker Fritz Lang; This movie is one of my personal favorites.
"Ride Lonesome" fully deserves its cult-movie status. Here the chemistry between the director Budd Boetticher and Randolph Scott attains its highest level. with excellent work by the whole cast. Randolph Scott, Karen Steele, Pernell Roberts, Lee Van Cleef and James Coburn
Born in Denmark, she came to Paris at 18. She met Coco Chanel and Pierre Cardin and started as a top model. She met Jean-Luc Godard about a cameo in À bout de souffle (1960), but she had to be naked and she refused to play in the movie. One year later, they got married and she became famous with the "Nouvelle vague" movies directed by him, Jacques Rivette or Agnès Varda.
An Excellent adult police drama with strong performances, Richard Widmark is terrific in the title role, Henry Fonda,Guardino,James Whitmore were terrific and the beautiful and tragic Inger Stevens in one of her last acting roles before her death in 1970
One of the finest thrillers ever made, From the novel by Frederick Forsyth, Edward Fox is marvelous in the title role. Fred Zinneman masterfully creates tension throughout the film without resorting to special effects, stunts or pyrotechnics. Brilliant classic thriller!
Another interesting and intelligent character-study from Robert Aldrich. Outstanding movie with an extraordinary cast, beautiful love song sung by Connie Francis entitled "Senza Fine," Stunt pilot Paul Mantz to whom the film is dedicated, died during its making.
"The Killer Elite" is an enjoyable '70's action/thriller, James Caan and Robert Duvall have great chemistry and the supporting cast is terrific: Arthur Hill, Gig Young, Mako, and Bo Hopkins. In Suison Bay, Sam Peckinpah filmed the last scene of The Killer Elite; I think is a very original idea. Film Editing by Monte Hellman.
Point Blank is one of the most influential films of the 1960's, John Boorman's direction is excellent, and not enough can be said about Lee Marvin's performance. This movie is one of my personal favourites.
Much Better Than The Critics Would Have You Believe "Jade" written by Joe Eszterhas (Showgirls Paul Verhoeven)and directed by William Friedkin (French Connection) Jade is well made thriller that showcases the talents of Director William Friedkin.
Tarantino's first, is one of the best, part of this credit has to go to his outstanding cast. The performances (especially by Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, and Michael Madsen, who plays a convincing psychopath) we're incredible. executive producer Monte Hellman
A Melancholic Masterpiece About Code of Honor, Tradition and Love. Director Sydney Pollack shows a real reverence and respect for the traditions of another culture. It's the first Paul Schrader script ever to be filmed, written with his brother Leonard (who also worked with Paul on Blue Collar & Mishima) and Robert Towne (Chinatown, Marathon Man, Bonnie & Clyde). The early seventies was a last golden age for the eternally under-rated Mitchum, with outstanding performances in The Friends of Eddie Coyle, Farewell My Lovely and Ryan's Daughter, and this is one of his best.
It's based on the John MacDonald's novel and directed by Lee J Thompson, with a terrific musical score by the amazing Bernard Hermann. So acclaimed was Robert Mitchum's performance as the amoral, animalistic Max Cady it probably escapes most people's attention that Cape Fear was produced by co-star Gregory Peck. The supporting cast was excellent. Polly Bergen, Lori Martin, Martin Balsam, Telly Savallas, all in minor roles, but they add tremendously to the action.
Spectacular cult classic of the Moonshine Wars of the 50s, Thunder Road is the film that Robert Mitchum got to use all his many talents. Not only did he star in it, but he produced it and wrote the original story on which the film is based. And if that wasn't enough he wrote the songs for the film and made a hit record singing the title song. directed by Arthur Ripley
