AFP - Israël a intensifié tôt jeudi ses opérations dans le sud de la bande de Gaza, frappée dans la nuit par des nouveaux raids aériens, tout en envoyant des émissaires en Egypte discuter de propositions de trêve, au 13e jour de son offensive qui a fait plus de 700 morts palestiniens.Des avions ont effectué deux raids jeudi dans la ville de Rafah, dans le sud de la bande de Gaza, près de la frontière égyptienne, visant une maison et un tunnel soupçonné de servir à la contrebande, selon des témoins.L'armée a confirmé que des raids avaient lieu à Rafah qui, selon de premières informations, n'ont pas fait de victimes. Lors d'une réunion la veille présidée par le Premier ministre sortant Ehud Olmert, le cabinet de sécurité avait "approuvé la poursuite des opérations terrestres, y compris une troisième phase qui élargira l'offensive en pénétrant plus avant dans les zones peuplées", selon un responsable sous couvert d'anonymat. Celui-ci a souligné qu'il appartiendra aux responsables de la Défense d'appliquer ou non cette décision. L'armée avait largué mercredi soir des tracts sur Rafah sommant les habitants des zones frontalières de l'Egypte de quitter les lieux en raison de prochains bombardements contre des tunnels de contrebande.
