Bridal Gowns Guide
![]() |
For most brides, their wedding day is the most exciting day of their lives. It's the day they have been planning since they were little girls with towels on their heads for veils. They fanaticized and planned and dreamed even before they really liked boys. For these girls who dream of their Cinderella day, the bridal gown has to be the perfect complement to their unique style and beauty. Finding just the right bridal gown doesn't have to be stressful. Like the wedding day, the search for the perfect wedding dress should be fun and special.
Typically, the first step in every bride's search for the perfect wedding dress is to buy all of the latest bridal magazines. You'll find at least six or seven magazines dedicated to bridal gowns and all of the other wedding issues that must be settled. After buying the bridal magazines, tear out pictures of each dress that you love and put them in a folder. If you don't see anything you love, keep looking until you find the style you are looking for. Once you have a notebook of ideas, start visiting bridal shops. Don't forget your notebook. Before you visit the shops, call ahead for an appointment. That way you will have a salesperson dedicated to helping you. Show her your notebook and talk with her about your ideas. Then she can pull some dresses for you to try on.
Hardly any bride shops for bridal gowns alone. Take your mother, sister, or girlfriend with you and get input from them after you start trying on the gowns. Have someone take pictures of you in each gown. Sometimes you don't have a feel for a dress until you see a picture. Be sure to tell the salesperson your price range if she brings you dresses that are not in your budget.
If you feel that your salesperson doesn't have a true feel for what you want, start looking for gowns yourself. Be sure to ask if there is a sale rack if you have a small budget. You can't imagine what great prices you can get on the sale racks. Don't feel obligated to buy at any particular store unless you find the perfect wedding gown. Salespeople go through this every day. You don't owe them anything.
Keep visiting shops until you find the perfect dress of your dreams. Try on a variety of dresses with a variety of styles. Sometimes you'll find the Cinderella dress of your childhood fantasies when you try on a wedding gown that you are initially attracted to.
Some brides find their dream dress in a bridal magazine, find the store that carries that dress, try the dress on, pay for it, and head for home. This experience is few and far between but it can happen. Remember the search for wedding gowns is a glorious shopping experience. Enjoy the experience.
